A Planning Guide

The honest answer: the moment you have a date and a venue.

The best time to order a wedding cake is the moment your date and venue are booked. At Sweet E’s, I take a limited number of cakes per season so every cake gets my full attention, and my 2026 and 2027 wedding calendar is already open and filling. The couples who get their first-choice date are, simply, the ones who inquire first.

There is no penalty for early, pricing stays the same whenever you book, but there is real risk in late: once a season’s spots are taken, they’re taken. Start with an inquiry, browse pricing, or read my 2026 cost guide while you plan.

How Booking Works, Start to Finish

1

Inquire with your date

Tell me your date, venue, and guest count through the contact form. I’ll confirm whether your date is open.

2

Taste and design

Your $50 tasting includes three cakes and three fillings (complimentary with orders over $300) and doubles as your design consultation, bring inspiration photos from the gallery.

3

Reserve your date

Once your design is set, your date is held on my calendar, one of a limited number each season.

4

Wedding day

I bake fresh, deliver, and style your cake on site, then leave you with a complimentary mini anniversary cake for year one.

Why Dates Disappear

I keep my seasonal calendar deliberately small so every cake gets full attention, which means dates close when they close. Venues work the same way, and the cake should follow the venue: the moment your location is locked, order a wedding cake to match it. Couples who wait often find the venue was the easy part. If your date is already close, still reach out, when a season has room, I am all in.

When to Order a Wedding Cake: FAQ

How far in advance should you order a wedding cake?

As soon as you have your date and venue. Sweet E’s takes a limited number of cakes per season, and my 2026–2027 calendar is open and filling, popular months go first, so earlier is always safer.

Can we still order a cake a few months out?

Sometimes, it depends entirely on whether your date is still open. Send an inquiry with your date and I’ll tell you honestly whether I can take it.

What happens after we book?

Your tasting and design consultation come first: $50 for three cakes and three fillings, complimentary with orders over $300. From there I design your cake, and closer to the day I deliver and style it on site.

Does booking early cost more?

No. The date you book on does not add to your quote; your design, tier count and delivery set it, and most couples invest $650 to $1,200. Booking early simply guarantees your date.

Sweet E’s has been featured by Rocky Mountain Bride, Utah Valley Bride, Utah Weddings Magazine, Voyage Utah, and Zola, and creates around 120 cakes a year for couples across the state, each one custom, each one delivered with the same care. Yours is next.
