Designing a Cake for Wadley Farms
The Castle rooms are tall and stone-heavy, and the Great Hall staircases swallow a small cake whole, so four and five tier designs read properly there. Sugar florals that cascade the full height of the cake, hand piping, and fine wafer paper petals all hold up on a short drive, which is one of the quiet advantages of a venue this close to my kitchen.
The Barn is warmer and softer. Textured buttercream, a ribbed or combed finish, and fresh florals matched to your bouquet suit it far better than anything glossy. If you are moving between spaces through the day, I plan the cake for the room where it will be cut, because that is where every photo of it will be taken.
