The Autumn Collection
Rust, terracotta, bark and berry, designed for a Utah fall.
Fall wedding cakes are cakes built around autumn color and texture: terracotta and rust buttercream, bark and wood grain finishes, dried and pressed florals, dark berries, and warm spiced flavors like pumpkin spice and cinnamon. At Sweet E’s, most couples invest $650 to $1,200 in a fall wedding cake once the design, the tier count and the delivery are settled.
September and October are the busiest weeks on my calendar, and they are also the weeks when color does the most work. The light comes in low and warm, the florals turn to dried stems and deep reds, and a cake that would read as plain in June suddenly reads as rich. You can see the palette in my autumn warmth gallery, compare tier sizes on the 2026 price guide, and browse the whole collection on the Utah wedding cakes page.

What Makes Fall Wedding Cakes Different
Three things change in autumn. Color deepens, so a cake can carry a saturated tier without looking loud. Texture matters more than applied decoration, because low afternoon light catches every comb line and every ruffle. And the weather finally cooperates: buttercream that would soften on a July lawn holds its edge through a September ceremony, which means piped blooms and sharp combed sides stay crisp from setup through the last photograph. If bark texture, semi-naked tiers and a wood slice stand are your direction, my rustic wedding cakes guide shows how those finishes stay elegant.
What I steer couples away from is the costume version of fall. Plastic leaves, orange dye, a cake that looks like a centerpiece instead of a dessert. The autumn cakes that still look beautiful ten years later borrow one idea from the season, a clay tone, a bark finish, a scatter of dried stems, and let the rest of the cake stay quiet.
Five Autumn Directions I Design Most
| Direction | The Finish | Pairs Well With |
|---|---|---|
| Terracotta and rust | Solid warm color on one tier, or blooms in clay tones | Cream tiers, taper candles, a dark backdrop |
| Bark and wood grain | Buttercream carved and combed into tree bark | Woodland and canyon venues, wood slice stands |
| Dried and pressed florals | Real dried stems pressed flat into the buttercream | Neutral tiers and very little other styling |
| Vintage piping in warm cream | Lambeth garlands, pearls and swags in peach and butter | Candlelight and historic rooms |
| Berries and greenery | Dark berries cascading over a white or ivory cake | Mountain venues and long farm tables |
If you want the piped look in detail, my guide to wedding cake trends for 2027 photographs it on real cakes, and the rustic charm gallery holds the bark and wood slice work. For couples marrying at the far end of the season, the winter and mountain cakes page picks up where this one leaves off. For design inspiration, my guide to winter wedding cake ideas shows seven directions on real Utah cakes.
Fall Flavors On My Signature Menu
Autumn is the one season where the flavor list writes itself. Pumpkin spice and cinnamon are both on my signature cake menu, and cinnamon paired with dulce de leche and cinnamon buttercream is the combination I sell as Churro, which couples order year round and then serve in October to a very happy room. Carrot cake with white chocolate suits a smaller reception beautifully. Biscoff cake with cream cheese Biscoff spread tastes like the season without a single spice cliche, and chocolate with cinnamon ganache is the quiet showstopper.
You do not have to guess. A tasting is $50 for three cakes and three fillings, complimentary with orders over $300, and the full list lives on the flavors and fillings guide. Cakes contain wheat, dairy and eggs, and are made in a kitchen where nuts and soy are present. Dairy-free and gluten-friendly options are available, contact me for flavor details.
Fall Wedding Cake Pricing in Utah
| Cake | Starts At | Servings |
|---|---|---|
| Single tier | $150 | 6 to 38 |
| Two tier | $450 | 20 to 60 |
| Three tier | $650 | 48 to 115 |
| Four and five tier | $875 | 85 to 210 |
The season does not change the price. The design does. A solid terracotta tier and a hand-carved bark tier take different amounts of studio time, and so does the number of blooms you want piped. Every multi-tier wedding cake includes the tasting, the design consultation and a complimentary mini cake on your first anniversary, and a supplemental ten inch kitchen cake is $100 if you want more servings without another tier. Delivery is quoted by location and Utah charges 3% sales tax. Every number is on the pricing page.

Fall Wedding Cake Questions
How much does a fall wedding cake cost in Utah?
Most couples invest $650 to $1,200 in a fall wedding cake, and detailed finishes like carved bark or piped blooms add studio time. Two tiers for 20 to 60 guests start from $450, three tiers for 48 to 115 from $650, and four and five tiers for 85 to 210 from $875. Delivery is quoted by location and 3% sales tax applies.
When should we book a fall wedding cake?
As soon as the venue is booked. I am taking 2026 and 2027 dates now, a limited number each season, and September and October fill before any other months. My guide on when to order a wedding cake walks through the timeline.
Does buttercream hold up at an outdoor fall wedding?
Yes, and better than in midsummer. Cooler autumn air keeps piped blooms and combed sides crisp. I deliver and style the cake on site, set it out of direct sun, and it stays beautiful until it is cut.
What fall flavors can we choose?
Pumpkin spice, cinnamon, Biscoff, carrot and white chocolate are all on my signature menu, with fillings that include dulce de leche, cinnamon ganache and cream cheese Biscoff spread. A $50 tasting covers three cakes and three fillings.
Do you deliver fall wedding cakes across Utah?
Yes. The studio is in Provo and I deliver and style cakes across the state, from Utah County to Salt Lake City and the mountain venues, with destination travel available. Delivery is quoted by location.
