The White Collection
Ivory, texture and quiet detail, the most timeless cake there is.
White wedding cakes are the classic for a reason: they suit every venue, every palette and every season, and they let texture and shape carry the design. Most couples invest $650 to $1,200 in their wedding cake. Two tiers start from $450 for 20 to 60 servings and three tiers from $650 for 48 to 115, and a white cake with piping, pearls or sculpted detail usually lands above the starting price for its size.
Below are real white cakes from my studio, the textures and accents that keep white from reading as plain, and how to choose the right shade. The white and ivory gallery holds the full collection, and every tier and serving is listed with my wedding cake prices.

Why White Wedding Cakes Never Date
A white cake does not compete with anything. It sits beside your florals, your linens and your dress without asking the room to match it, and in photographs it holds its shape against every background, from a gold ballroom to a mountain window. That is also why white carries detail so well: with no color in the way, every pearl, ridge and piped line shows.
White is not one color. Buttercream is naturally a soft ivory, and I match the white to your dress, linens or palette as closely as the ingredients allow. Warm ivory reads romantic and photographs softly in candlelight; a cooler, brighter white reads crisp and modern in daylight.
Texture Is What Makes a White Cake Feel Finished
| Finish | What It Looks Like | Reads As |
|---|---|---|
| Smooth | Clean, sharp edges and a single accent | Modern |
| Ribbed or combed | Fine horizontal ridges in buttercream | Tailored |
| Piped | Pearls, blossoms or vintage swags | Romantic |
| Sculpted | Ruffles, drapes or a bow | Statement |
Most of the white cakes I make pair one finish with one accent: ribbed tiers with white roses, smooth tiers with a single toffee rose, a cake covered in piped pearl blossoms with nothing else on it. My guide to wedding cake decorations covers each detail in depth, and if you are weighing finishes, my comparison of buttercream vs. fondant explains how each one behaves. For ribbing, combing and pleats up close, see my guide to textured wedding cakes.
Real White Cakes from My Studio
One of my grandest white cakes is a five-tier design for a celebration at La Caille, where the height matched the scale of the grounds; it is one of the wedding cakes at La Caille I have delivered. At the other end of the scale, a two-tier set in a ring of baby’s breath shows how little a white cake needs: the flowers frame it, and the tiers stay bare.
Between those two sit the cakes that show what texture can do. A vintage over-piped cake in ivory carries layered swags from top to bottom, the style my guide to vintage wedding cakes explores. A white ruffle cascade drapes down one side of the tiers and finishes in roses. If restraint is the whole point for you, my notes on simple elegant wedding cakes make the case for less.
What Shapes the Investment
Tier count and servings set the base. A smooth white cake with one accent stays closer to the starting price for its size, while piping, pearls, ruffles and sculpted bows add studio time and land above it. Delivery location and Utah’s 3% sales tax set the final number, and I quote your design in full, itemized, after we sketch it together. Flavor is chosen at your wedding cake tasting, and a white exterior can hold anything inside, from vanilla bean to chocolate raspberry. Dairy-free and gluten-friendly options are available, contact me for flavor details. My cakes contain wheat, dairy and eggs and are made in a kitchen where nuts and soy are present.

“Erika makes the best cake, and that’s saying something because I’m usually not a big fan of it. It was perfectly moist and had the perfect amount of sweetness between the cake and filling. It was also beautiful!”

White Wedding Cake Questions, Answered
Are white wedding cakes still in style?
Yes. White is the most timeless choice for a wedding cake because it suits every venue, palette and season, and current designs keep it fresh with texture: piped pearls, ribbed buttercream, vintage swags and sculpted bows.
What is the difference between a white and an ivory wedding cake?
Buttercream is naturally a soft ivory, which reads warm and romantic, especially by candlelight. A brighter white reads crisp and modern in daylight. I match the shade to your dress, linens or palette as closely as the ingredients allow.
How do you keep a white wedding cake from looking plain?
Pair one finish with one accent. Ribbed tiers with white roses, smooth tiers with a single sugar or fresh bloom, or a cake covered in piped pearls all feel finished without adding color.
How much is a white wedding cake?
Most couples invest $650 to $1,200. Two tiers start from $450 for 20 to 60 servings and three tiers from $650 for 48 to 115. Piping, pearls and sculpted details add studio time, so most textured white designs land above the starting price for their size.
Can a white wedding cake have a colored flavor inside?
Yes. The outside can stay white while the tiers hold any flavor on my menu, from vanilla bean to red velvet or chocolate raspberry, and each tier can be a different flavor.
